Manoverboard - Comet

The Comet Light and Smoke Lifebuoy Marker is a highly reliable man‑overboard signal designed to mark position under all visibility and weather conditions. It releases dense orange smoke for 15 minutes and features two self‑contained LED lights that significantly exceed SOLAS output and duration requirements.

The unit is attached to a 4 kg lifebuoy and mounted on each bridge wing. It can be automatically deployed when the lifebuoy is released or manually activated. The signal is approved for mounting heights up to 56 m and has been tested by the manufacturer to withstand a 100‑meter drop.

Application:

• Man overboard marking, day and night
• Vessels and offshore platforms with high freeboard
• Maritime rescue operations
• Bridge‑wing mounting with stainless steel bracket

Storage: Store upright in its stainless steel bracket under dry magazine conditions. Onboard ships, two units are typically required, mounted inverted with a clear drop path into the water.

Line required: 4 m × 9.5 mm (not supplied)

Operation:

1. Mounted in ready‑to‑deploy position with lifebuoy.
2. Release locking pin; lifebuoy drops and automatically activates the marker.
3. Alternatively, throw lifebuoy manually.
